James W. Macnutt, Q.C. Partner
James W Macnutt, Q.C. was born and raised in Charlottetown. He graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor in Arts before completing his Bachelor of Laws. He has also completed a Certification of Legislative Drafting from the University of Ottawa.
He was admitted to the bar in the Province of Prince Edward Island in 1969 and worked for the Department of Justice before being appointed as Prince Edward Island's first Legislative Counsel in 1972. He served as Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1969-1975.
Mr. Macnutt was a partner with Large and Macnutt Law Office from 1976-1977, had a private practice from 1979-1982 and has been a senior partner at Macnutt and Dumont since 1982.
He has been involved in many volunteer activities during his career including being president, chair, and member of various boards and committees. He is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown.
He is married to Barbara Macnutt and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
